But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33 ESV
Two words came to my mind that have significant repercussion in the Christian life. The words…” kingdom and value.” Shouldn’t everything have kingdom value in the life of the Christian? Having kingdom value ultimately will, according to scripture, bring God glory. So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10: 31 ESV
The Holy Spirit quickens / convicts the Christian by teaching truths that may or may not have been known, but need to be practiced as a part of daily Christian living. This world we live in is built on self gratification, and the question arises, is it even possible to have a kingdom value focus? “For all that is in the world – the desires of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the pride of life – is not from the Father but is from the world”. 1 John 2:16 ESV The world is so alluring with all it offers, yet as Christians we must remember this world is passing away. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 2:17. ESV
Jesus knew the temptation of gaining this world; it was offered to Him. Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you fall down and worship me.” Matthew 4: 8-10. ESV
You must never forget everything in life has a cost. You pay with your time, talents, youth, health, relationships, money, and on could go this list. You may say, “salvation is free,” but it was not to Jesus; He paid the price for the salvation of our lives with His life. Because Jesus didn’t accept the offer of the kingdoms of this world, He was able to pay salvations price at Calvary. Christian, you must remember the world and all it offers is not important. It offers no eternal value. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? Matt 16:25-26 ESV Please do not misunderstand; these words are not written to make us feel guilty concerning the blessings of life nor to judge someones lifestyle. These words are to help us reflect on what is important in life while it is the day. What is important ……… just ask this question; what was important to Jesus? For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost Luke 19:10 ESV It is no understatement to say His life had kingdom value.
